2 alleged NPA members nabbed in Davao City

TWO alleged members of the New People’s Army (NPA) were arrested on Friday morning, September 21, after reports were received of unidentified armed men’s presence at Purok 3, Barangay Langub, Davao City particularly at Lucob residence.

Based on the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) report, around 10:35 a.m. on September 21, Talomo Police Station received a report that unidentified armed men believed to be NPA members were spotted in the area.

Talomo PS chief, Police Chief Inspector (PCI) Ronald Lao informed DCPO director Police Senior Superintendent Alexander Tagum about the report where the latter immediately formed a Joint Task Group composed of Police Station 3, Intelligence Branch, and City Mobile Force Company (CMFC).

The team held a quick mission planning at DCPO Conference Room and a combat operation was launched together with Regional Mobile Force Battalion (RMFB) 11 afterwards.

The operation resulted in the arrest of Jimmy Duran Lucob, 26, single, construction worker, resident of Purok 3, Barangay Langub, Davao City and Raquelyn Moda, 19, native of Caburan, Davao Occidental and presently residing at the same place.

Recovered from the possession of Lucob during the arrest were live fragmentation grenade and assorted subversive documents while from Moda were one unit homemade.3516 caliber revolver and drawn maps of their targets.

Security forces likewise recovered hammocks, assorted medicines, new MC 12V battery with clamps and long wire and three single motorcycles.

The report added that around 5 p.m., Friday, a combat operation was ongoing following reports from neighbors that around 14 adult males carrying short firearms were seen running towards the forested area heading to Matina Pangi direction.
