PASSING a licensure examination is already an achievement, how much more if one is included in the Top 10?

A forester graduate of the University of Southeastern Philippines (Usep) not just simply passed the Forestry Licensure Examination but also placed 7th.

Nathaniel Henson Jr. from Usep-Tagum campus only dreamed of passing the examination but God has given him more after he landed in the 7th spot after obtaining 90.65 ratings. His optimism served as a springboard that enables him to bounce back amid the setbacks.

The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) released last September 17 the list of passers and among the 1,776, only 1,048 examinees passed the FLE administered by the Board for Foresters in different cities in the country.

The 21-year-old fresh graduate is grateful for the blessing that came his way. What he has gone through in getting the fruit of his hard work was never easy but all paid off.

“I never imagined to be on top, but God is really good, He give me more than what I deserve,” Henson said.

Henson, a resident in Nabunturan, Compostela Valley, shared that the review phase was challenging as he really needed to condition himself to focus on his goal; he avoided distractions that could veer him away from his focus.

Asked on how he did the outstanding performance, he said, “Focus and have faith in God that I can. I set my goal and focused on it, I used to have a scheduled review and eliminated some factors that might affect my focus like social media. And, I never forget to pray before and after my review.”

Henson dedicated his achievement to his parents who inspired him to pursue his dream of becoming a licensed forester. His advocacy focuses on the promotion of environment protection and preservation considering that that world is experiencing climate change nowadays.

“Just like others I want to have good environment; this triggers me to pursue my forestry education because I know with this, I can contribute a big impact to the environment,” he said. “Forestry is all about conservation, protection, management of our forest to have a sustainable environment.”

He got fascinated in forestry since majority of the resources came from the environment which helps provide the needs of the people. Likewise, he stressed that he wished to be part of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR).

“It’s a good choice kung sino man ang kukuha ng forestry course because it’s important to maintain our environment not just for us but also for the future generation,” he added.

In order to belong at the top 10 in the licensure examination, he said they must give all their 100 percent especially during the review and never forget to seek guidance from above.
