Porac toddlers, residents get lecture on oral health

PORAC -- Young and old residents of this town were the attendees of the lecture on oral health as well as free fluoride application on Friday, September 21.

This, as Porac officials led by Vice-Mayor Dexter David and the Philippine Dental Association (PDA)-Pampanga Chapter hosted the oral health program in Barangay Sepung Bulaon here as they hope to promote the awareness of maintaining good oral health.

The event was a joint program of the Philippine Dental Association and Municipal Health Office headed by Dr. Panlilio together with the Rural Health Unit dentists Dr. Mary Ann Basilio and Dr. Ruth Roque.

Dozens of residents received free dental services and lectures from volunteer doctors. The event also featured talks and oral health lectures for pre-schoolers along with their guardians to promote and value oral hygiene at a young age. Organizers said that oral hygiene is one of the most neglected areas of health among Filipinos.

Less privileged members of the community would visit the dentist for tooth extraction as the last recourse rather than for prophylaxis or prevention. This event encouraged participants to prioritize oral health and appreciate teeth that give beauty and confidence.
