FOUR barangays in Kabayan, Benguet remain isolated after Typhoon Ompong hit the municipality resulting to damaged houses and one casualty.
Total affected families include 168 with 759 individuals while properties include 168 damaged and 18 destroyed.
Mayor Gideon Todiano said ongoing clearing operations continue in barangays Anchokey, Eddet, Lusod, and Tawangan.
The chief executive added roads particularly the Abatan road leading to Buguias is closed, preventing vehicles to enter the villages.
In addition, the town needs construction materials for the damaged property affected by the typhoon.
Classes are also suspended until Friday, added Todiano.
“Most structures were filled with water, rocks and soil where houses constructed along the creeks fell over.”
Todiano added electricity has yet to be restored in the entire 13 barangays of the municipality.
The lone casualty for the town was identified as Elma Liwan from barangay Bashoy whose body was retrieved Thursday afternoon at Ambuklao in Bokod.
Department of Social Welfare and Development Cordillera regional director Janet Armas said a total of 620 family food packs has been brought to Kabayan.
“We are continuously providing family food packs to Kabayan via airlift. We delivered 310 yesterday and 320 today,” added Armas.
