Bacolod crimes reduced by 29% in 18 days

THE Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) has recorded a crime reduction of 28.92 percent from September 1 to 18.

Senior Superintendent Francisco Ebreo, acting BCPO director, presented the data to the members of the media at the headquarters Thursday, September 20.

Based on the record, 118 crimes were recorded this year compared to the same period last year with 166 cases.

There’s a reduction of 48 cases, Ebreo said.

For the index crimes, 22 incidents were recorded in 2018 against 62 cases in 2017, with a drop of 40 cases or 64.52 percent.

A total of 96 cases were recorded this year for non-index crimes compared to 104 cases last year, with a decrease of eight cases or 7.69 percent.

Non-index crimes include accidents resulting in homicide, physical injuries, and damage to property, among others.

For eight focus crimes, theft has the highest number of incidents with nine cases, robbery, four; physical injuries, eight; and murder, one.

BCPO has no record for homicide, rape, carnapping, and motornapping in the past two weeks.

Meanwhile, Ebreo said 19 operations were conducted against illegal gambling which resulted in the arrests of 54 persons. A total of 19 cases were filed.

On the campaign against wanted persons, three most wanted persons and 19 other wanted persons were arrested from 40 operations.

For the anti-loitering campaign, 98 operations were conducted and 117 minors were rescued.

For the campaign against loose firearms, one homemade firearm was confiscated while six high-powered and 19 low-powered firearms were surrendered to the authorities.

Two persons were arrested for illegal possession of firearms and ammunition. (GYM)
