P3-M worth of relief goods given to flood victims

THE Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) on Friday, September 21, reported that it has distributed some P3,917,677 worth of food packs to flood victims in Pampanga.

It could be remembered that recent Typhoon “Ompong” (Mankhut) had sent hundreds of people to evacuation centers here due to flooding.

The PSWDO had distributed a total of 16,000 food packs in Guagua (6,307), Lubao (5,000), Arayat (1,293), and San Luis (4,000).

Meanwhile, Candaba, which is still under state of calamity, received 7,403 food packs worth P1.5 million.

The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office on Friday said that 52 barangays in Pampanga are still under floodwaters, while the number of people in evacuation centers have gone down to 3,382.

Fourth district towns are still struggling with floodwaters.

Masantol town still has ten barangays in floodwater followed by Macabebe with nine barangays. Ten barangays in Candaba are still in floodwater along with nine barangays in San Simon.

There are also still some flooded barangays in San Simon, Minalin and San Luis as of press time. The rest of the towns in the other districts of the province have been removed from the flood listing as floodwaters have already receded.
