THE 6th Atty. Jong Guevarra Cup Mindanao Chess Festival is slated September 29 and 30 at the Food Hall of Gaisano Mall of Toril, Davao City.
The event is part of the "Fiesta Saya" activities organized by Toril Poblacion Barangay Council headed by Lilibeth Al-ag in celebration of the Sto. Rosario Parochial Fiesta of Toril District and supported by Davao City third district Representative Alberto Ungab.
It will feature three categories including the Fide-rated open category, the National Chess Federation of the Philippines (NCFP)-rated kiddies under 14 and tatluhan.
Cash prizes of P15,000, P10,000, P5,000, P3,000 and P2,000 await the top five placers.
The sixth to 10th placers, meanwhile, will claim P1,000 each including the top female player.
The top three kiddies will take home P2,500, P1,500 and P1,000 while the top female will also claim P1,000.
The tatluhan event stakes P65,000 for the champion while the next four placers will receive P35,000, P20,000, P10,000 and P5,000.
A consolation prize of P4,000 will be given to the sixth to 10th placers and another P3,000 for the 11th to 15th placers.
Registration fees are P350 (open category), P150 (kiddies) and P4,500 (tatluhan).
