ACD Warriors enters quarterfinals

THE Assumption College of Davao (ACD) Warriors advanced to the quarterfinals after topping its bracket with a clean 3-0 slate in the opening of the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) 3x3 Under 16 Regional Finals held at the Alfresco Activity Centre of Felcris Centrale Saturday.

The Warriors, 2015-2016 champion, composed of John Rey Pasaol, Kim Remollo, Francis Dagpin and Clayton Avellino, routed Philippine Nikkei Jin Kai International School (PNJKIS) Samurai, 16-9, after beating Philippine Academy of Sakya Davao (PASD) Dragons, 17-12.

The Tristan Balino-coached Warriors capped the elimination round with an effortless win over Bunawan National High School via game forfeiture.

Defending champion Davao Jones Academy (DJA) Spunky, who already secured a comforting 2-0 slate, was still playing against Brokenshire College of Davao as of Saturday.

In girls division, Davao Region's first national champion Cabantian National High School (CBNHS) bowed out after a stinging two-point defeat to Davao City National High School.

Powerhouse ACD and 2016 regional champion Daniel R. Aguinaldo National High School (DRANHS) are still in contention.

Only one team in each bracket may advance to the next round.

Today will be the boys quarterfinals and the girls semifinals games.

This afternoon will be the championship game and battle for third match of each bracket. (ABM)
