WE condemns the irresponsible lie being peddled by Senior Supt. Benigno Durana Jr., head of the PNP Public Information Office.
In a press briefing, Durana claimed that the United People’s Action (Upac) at the Luneta is led by the Communist Party of the Philippines and the New People’s Army.
That is a big, fat lie.
Durana shows amazing ineptness for a senior police officer. He couldn’t even get proper intelligence from his own agency.
The other day, the head of the National Capiral Region Police Office, Gen. Eleazar and bevy of senior police officers, including the commanders of the Manila Police Office, met with leaders of the different groups behind the UPAC rally. They discussed every single detail needed to ensure a peaceful, orderly protest.
Today, the Manila Police District leadership met again with UPAC rally organizers to fine tune arrangements, including parking.
Durana’s inutile attempt at red-baiting smacks of the Duterte regime’s desperation over growing resistance by the people to human rights violations, corruption and treasonous foreign policy. - Movement Against Tyranny
