THE Assumption College of Davao (ACD) Warriors and Daniel R. Aguinaldo National High School (DRANHS) captured titles in the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) 3x3 Under 16 Regional Finals Sunday, September 23, at the Alfresco Activity Center of Felcris Centrale.
The Warriors escaped past to seal a 12-10 victory over Holy Child College of Davao (HCCD) Reds in the championship match of the boys division.
It was in 2017 when ACD, which was then bannered by Alejandre Positos, Christian Paul Malano, Kent John Cabelis and Carl Jeric Gudmalin, last won the title that was eventually snatched by Davao Jones Academy (DJA) Spunky.
With its new and young roster of John Rey Pasaol, Kim Remollo , Francis Dagpin and Clayton Avelino, the Warriors reclaimed lost glory and will represent Davao Region in the National Finals 2018 slated third week of October.
Dranhs, 2016 regional champion, meanwhile, recaptured the girls’ division title after surviving past arch-rival ACD, 11-9, in the finals.
Dranhs relied on Aleah Kaye Clapano who once led the team in the regional finals in 2016. They will fly together with the ACD boys’ team in an all-expense paid trip to Manila courtesy of SBP.
The champions both received P10, 000 while the next two placers received P3, 000 and P2, 000, respectively.
