OVER 450 Generika Drugstores nationwide conducted a simultaneous free medical consultation to the public as part of its 15th anniversary on September 22, 2018.

The event was in celebration of their 15 years of serving the people with quality and affordable medicines, especially those considered below the poverty line. Fifteen years of thriving and growing to reach more communities all over the country.

“Nagpapasalamat kami for the 15 years na tinangkilik kami, hopefully kami ang maging partner nila sa kalusugan at maging gabay pa nila for the next more years,” Yet Abarca, vice president for Finance and Administration, said during an interview with SunStar Davao.

One of the participating drugstores for the Libreng Konsulta was the Generika Drugtore located in Cabaguio, Davao City.

The Generika drugstore, through the years, has paved the way to correct the misconceptions about generic medicines as perceived to be low-class quality and inferior compared to the pricey brand-name medicines.

It has been the advocacy of Ted Ferrer, the founder, and Julien Bello, the co-founder, to provide quality healthcare that is affordable and accessible to the Filipinos. Thus, the company was established 2003.

“Si Generika Drugstore ang pinakaunang nagbenta ng generics medicine, it is the pioneer in making generic medicines available to the masses,” Mon Astilla, product manager, said.

Through continuous generic education conducted in the communities, Generika Talk (Gen Talk), and Anti-microbial Resistance (AMR) Talks, the public slowly understands that generic and brand-name medicines have the same active ingredients and the only thing difference is the brand and its price.

Meanwhile, Generika Drugstore has been pushing a digital campaign called #BubutiKa which was launched last year.

“Sa campaign nato, ang gusto naming sabihin ay sa ‘Generika Drugstore, #BubutiKa’. Kumbaga, we want to ensure that you are healthy and maintain it. The idea is, hindi mo kailangan pumunta lang ng drugstore kung may sakit ka lang,” Astilla said.

“We are here to be your trusted partner for your healthcare solutions,” she added.

At present, the Generika Drugstore, after 15 long years has developed its own house brand medicine under the name Actimed. Also, they now have Nutrawell, Generika Drugstore's range of OTC vitamins, food supplements and personal care products.
