THE University of Visayas (UV) Green Lancers displayed their potent arsenal as they made quick work of Cebu Doctors’ University (CDU) Stallions, 25-12, 6-25, 25-17, in the Cebu School Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) men’s volleyball tournament in the University of San Carlos (USC) Gym yesterday.

The Green Lancers played stellar all game-long en route to a three-straight win over the Stallions. The Green Lancers opened the game on a high note as they rushed to take the lead before eventually drawing first blood at 25-12.

UV tightened up their game in the second set, holding off their opponent to only six points for a lopsided 25-6 score before finishing the game in the third set with 25-17.

Meanwhile, the Cebu Institute of Technology-University (CIT-U) Wildcats scored a straight-set win over the University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USP-F) Panthers, 25-22, 25-14, 25-13, also in the men’s division.

The Wildcats used the momentum they got from the 25-22 score in the first set to dictate the pace in the next two sets. CIT-U dominated the second set at 25-14 and the third set at 25-13.

The N. Bacalso-based CIT-U, though, failed to get a double win after its women’s team faltered to the USC Warriors also in straight set, 25-10, 25-9, 25-16.

The Warriors were in control the whole game starting out with a 25-10 score in the first set and almost the same score at 25-9 in the second set before ending the game at 25-16.

The USP-F female spikers also won in straight sets against the University of Cebu (UC) Webmasters, 25-14, 25-16, 25-15. (RSC)
