Jealous husband kills OFW wife

AN OVERSEAS Filipino Worker (OFW) was stabbed to death by her husband inside their house at Hacienda Alicante in Barangay Bungahin, Isabela, Negros Occidental Sunday, September 23.

Killed was Angela Arevalo.

Senior Inspector Randy Babor, town police chief, said they believe that the killing was a crime of passion after it was learned that Arnaiz was jealous upon learning that his wife was having an affair.

Babor said the victim had admitted to her husband that she has a boyfriend and did not want to be with him again.

Jealousy may have triggered him to commit the crime, the town police chief said.

Babor said Arevalo arrived home from Kuwait the other day but stayed at her mother's house because she was not in good terms with her husband Arnaiz Arevalo.

Arnaiz allegedly abused his wife physically which prompted the latter to apply for work abroad, Babor said, quoting the statement of the victim's family.

Angela, along with her sister, visited their house past 2 p.m. on Sunday to talk to her husband about their situation and the custody of their two children but the suspect allegedly slapped her.

Then a heated argument ensued between them which prompted the suspect to stab his wife with a knife which was tucked on his waist.

The victim succumbed to three stab wounds on her chest and hands while Arnaiz fled.

Babor said Angela's sister saw the incident but she was unharmed.

Manhunt operations are ongoing. (GYM)
