Fire destroys P15-M properties in Sibugay

FIFTEEN million pesos worth of properties went up in smoke, as a fire razed a business establishment in the province of Zamboanga Sibugay, the police reported Monday, September 24.

Chief Inspector Helen Galvez, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula information officer, said the incident happened around 12:30 a.m. Monday in Purok 4, Barangay Maganay, Buug, Zamboanga Sibugay.

Galvez said the fire that reached second alarm destroyed the auto stop cap accessories and service center owned by Buug Municipal Councilor Jessie Lagas. The fire was declared out around 2:30 a.m. Monday, September 24.

Galvez said investigation showed that electrical wire short circuit on service drop ignited the fire.

She said the business establishment is a mercantile one-storey building built with solid materials with combustible component used in car servicing.

She said there was no reported casualty in the incident.

Galvez said the estimated damage to properties is more or less P15 million. (SunStar Philippines)
