Cebu musicians for Naga

LIVES lost. Families displaced. Homes buried. But what is more horrifying than the pictures on the papers and social media from the aftermath of the recent landslide in Naga, Cebu, is the thought that it could’ve been prevented.

While the authorities get to the bottom of the issue, the rest do their part to help those affected.

Last Sunday, Sept. 23, a gig was organized and held at Draft Punk to help gather relief goods—food, clothing, medicine etc. Dubbed “Naga Bangon,” some of Cebu’s veteran acts and newbies joined in to perform for a cause: Junior Kilat, Silingan ni Felicity, Paola & Uly, Zone 38, Fiyah, Raffy Membreve, Neil Retro, Coolie Dread, Andrei & The Royale Kartel, 4th of July, Stephanie Lhui, Tyo, Andoni Colmenares, Dave Susi Dela Cruz, Ren Campbell, Tadashi Largo, Latigo Rapper, Alaia Kirsten, DJ Kobe, Paolo Konst and more. The gig brought together a lot of people who brought in their donations.

If you missed this one, there’s another show for a cause happening this Friday, Sept. 28 at Kampo Grill and Bar on Ouano Ave., North Recalamation Area, Cebu City. Dubbed Rock For Naga sa Kampo, the event will start at 6 p.m. and feature the following local acts: Break Offenders, Jack Sprat, Landscape, Way To Fall, House Not Home, Pro Breath, Trip Think, Bon Credence, August Marched, Faltered Sky, Second Option, Elation, Fugue State, Akiizu Musika, Kikivah, Baronets, Early August, Sorry Not Sorry, Floodlykz and Days Of District.

The event will try to raise donations for the landslide victims. Bringing some canned food, bottled water, clothes, toiletries, pillows and blankets are very much appreciated. A little act of kindness goes a long way these days. And above all, don’t forget to pray. Pray for those responsible, for those affected, those left behind.
