TEAM Toyota Cebu Vios Cup Racing Team once again snagged the Team Championship award in Leg 3 of the Toyota Vios Cup Racing Series Season 5 at the Clark International Speedway in Pampanga last weekend.

It was an eventful weekend for the speed daredevils from Cebu as three of their drivers—Lord Seno, Clive Fermin and Robert “Bobby” Pangilinan—managed to land a podium finish to garner enough points to win the championship in the race dubbed as the biggest motorsports event in the country.

Fermin conquered Race 6 of the Promotional Class and followed it up with fourth and second place finishes in Race 7 and 8, respectively, powering the team to a comfortable margin over nearest rivals Toyota JBT Isabela and the Toyota Balintawak Obengers.

Team captain Lord Seno was in his usual consistent form with a fourth-place finish in Race 6 and 7 and landed at fifth place in Race 8 in the Sporting Class.

Robert Pangilinan also finished at second place in Race 6. He was leading in Race 8 and was looking good for another podium finish before he was bumped from behind and fell to fifth place. He recovered after the hit but engine failure forced him to retire with a lap to go.

Seno said that going into the third leg, they were confident on their chances of winning the championship. It wasn’t easy though as third driver Sean Velasco was struggling to find pace in the Super Sporting Class. However, the three riders stepped up.

“Our trio was ahead of the standings by a comfortable margin, having won the best team award in Leg 1 and being runner -up to Toyota Team Cebu second trio (Jett Calderon, Oscar Suarez and Brian Currie) in Leg 2. We just had to help each other. Clive and I just had to score the crucial points to win it. ” Seno said.

In the individual ranking, Fermin finished on top among the riders in the Overall Promotional Class Championships. He is set to get the title after the official tabulation and official results from the organizers.

Seno, on the other hand, is the first runner-up on his division next to champion John Dizon of Team Obengers.

“I am very proud of this team. This is a team made out of friendship and camaraderie. We did not do this overnight. It took us four big years to go this far and we worked extra hard for this. The team went to the last leg hungry for this win,” said team manager John Velasco. (RSCS)
