Offering best patient care with advanced technology, education

BEING true to its claim as the primary health care provider in Mindanao, Davao Doctors Hospital partnered with advanced technology and education to further enhance its patient care by providing safe and excellent services.

On September 22, the hospital toured some media practitioners to its brand new and state-of-the-art operating room complex, which costs several hundred million pesos. And that does not include the equipment and machines found inside the OR.

The complex is equipped with a laminar flow system which minimizes or controls particles from entering the room, which in turn also minimizes the acquisition of infection for the newly -operated patients. Upon entering each theater for operating, the staff also have to go through the air shower room to remove the remaining particles such as dusts from their body to ensure the safety of the patients.

The hospital, moreover, offers innovative options for surgeons, as well as their patients, to treat spine conditions with its minimally invasive spine surgery. The process treats spine condition with a decreased risk of surgical complications. This process is just an addition to other minimally invasive surgeries the hospital is also offering.

The hospital sees the need to offer such procedure as they observe patients needing this procedure would to go to as far as Manila or Visayas to experience advanced procedure for treatment.

“In fact, these are not actually new procedures (minimally invasive surgeries) to us as we have been doing, offering these procedures all these years. It’s just that we have better infrastructure and equipment to make it at par with other countries especially southeast Asia, not just in Manila alone,” Dr. Ronald Tangente shared.

And true to their words, the hospital also boasts of its newly-acquired Olympus ENDOALPHA, the newest control and video management solution which helps the surgeons see clearer the procedures they are doing. Aside from that, the equipment is able to manage, integrate, and share a large amount of data, both inside and outside the operating room (OR). This enables the other doctors outside of the operating room see the procedures, as well.

DDH is one of only three hospitals in the Philippines to acquire such equipment, which costs several hundred million pesos as well.

Aside from that, the hospital sends its medical interns to other countries for further studies so that when they get back home, they can share their newly acquired knowledge pertaining to modern treatment to their colleagues.

These are just some of the innovations and steps the hospital is doing to provide the best services it can offer to its patients.
