Duterte invited to grace tourism convention

MISAMIS Oriental governor has invited President Rodrigo Duterte to grace the gathering of all tourism officers in the country which will be hosted by the Provincial Government of Misamis Oriental on October 3 to 6, 2018.

Governor Yevgeny Emano on Monday, September 24, said the invitation was already sent to the president through the office of Special Assistant to the President (SAP) Christopher "Bong" Go.

Emano heads the SAP Bong Go Movement in Northern Mindanao.

But, he said he has yet to receive confirmation from the president.

The province was chosen to host the 19th national convention of the Association of Tourism Officers of the Philippines (ATOP) at a hotel in Cagayan de Oro City which will be participated by over 1,000 delegates.

"We hope nga matagaan sa pagtagad sa atong presidente ang ATOP wala pay confirmation but nakapadala na kita og sulat through SAP Bong Go's office (We hope that the president can find time, there is no confirmation yet but we have already sent a letter through SAP Bong Go’s office)," Emano said.

The capitol's top official said if Duterte confirms attendance, he is expected to deliver a message on the opening night.

Emano said representative Corazon Nunez-Malanyaon, tourism committee chair in the House of Representatives and Senator Cynthia Villar have so far confirmed attendance.

The governor said he would ask the president to pour out more funds for tourism-related infrastructure projects in the province once he meets Duterte.

He would also ask the president a portion of lot from the Phividec Industrial Authority in Tagoloan town to put up offices tasked to implement the capitol's infrastructure projects.

"Dunay gihatag nga P10 million sa capitol para sa agriculture pero wala pay luna then daghan pa nga opisina nga nagkinahanglan og spaces mao maghangyo ta sa presidente nga makapangayo tag yuta diha sa Phividec (We received P10 million intended for agriculture but we don’t have lands yet, there are also offices that needs space, and so we intend to ask the president to apportion us lot from Phividec)," Emano said.

Emano assured that the security for the three-day convention is already in place.
