Concepcion: Growing resistance

RESIST historical distortions and revisions. Resist increasing fascism and militarist rule of Duterte's administration.

The call to resist in the September 21 United People's Action resonates across the country. It grows naturally and will breed exponentially.

On September 20, 2018, national headquarters of Philippine National Police released a memorandum for an alert status regarding the brewing "Ouster Campaign." The memo assumed an economic sabotage through an intensified mass campaign and organizing of the left that will undermine the government's campaign against criminalities and corruption.

Economic activity of workers has long been sabotaged by failing to protect them from contractualization scheme. While farmers, on top of landlessness, are now uncompetitive since the unrestricted importation. The regressive taxation erodes the purchasing power of the consumer.

Duterte's campaign against corruption failed badly that Commission on Audit (COA), an independent constitutional commission, is threatened by the President himself.

COA consistently exposes irregular government transactions, but MalacaƱang is just mum.

Recently, the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) told that it is asking the President to create the inter-agency body to pacify the parliamentary struggle that infiltrated government agency, schools, and university. It should be noted that the National Defense budget for 2019 increases 24 percent while social services have a budget cut, the Department of Education will be down by 40%.

Instead of resolving the root causes of the growing resistance of the people, the state through PNP and AFP just wanting the wrong silence and peace.

Noteworthy, Duterte appointed at least 60 retired military officers to key positions in the government, which should be filled by individuals with technical expertise. The face of militarist rule is already in place.

The growing resistance of the people stems from the day to day economic struggle while hearing mumbling responses from government officials.

The 46th year commemoration of Martial Law reminds the struggling Filipino that a regime will reach the threshold of the tyrannical rule when the resistance of the people is the force to reckon.
