Fake NBI agent arrested in San Fernando

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- A man posing as an agent of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) was arrested by joint operatives of the Provincial Intelligence Branch and Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit in this capital city recently.

The suspect identified as Jeric Aquino Gonzales aka “Jek-jek”, 40, was arrested through the implementation of a ssearch warrant in his residence in Northville 14 Barangay Calulut in this city.

The search warrant allegedly stemmed from reports and complaint reaching the Pampanga Provincial Office regarding Gonzales’ alleged involvement in the proliferation of illegal drugs in this city.

According to police, Gonzales allegedly identifies himself as an NBI agent, and even flaunts a fake NBI badge during his transactions with illegal drug users where he serves as the supplier.

During the implementation of the search warrant, police authorities were able to recover 18 sachets of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride, locally known as “shabu,” a fake NBI badge and other personal belongings.

The discovery of the illegal drugs resulted to the immediate arrest of Gonzales who is currently detained at the City of San Fernando Police Station detention cell.

Police said they are still verifying Gonzales’ possible involvement in other crimes and illegal activities, as well as in crime syndicate groups possibly operating in the province.

Meantime, Gonzales will only face charges for violation of Sections 5 and 11 of the RA 9165 otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.
