PRO-Central Luzon vows crackdown vs erring cops, misfits

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- Police Regional Office (PRO)-Central Luzon Director Chief Superintendent Amador Corpus assured anew the commitment of the Philippine National Police (PNP) in penalizing erring members of its ranks.

This came after the arrest of Bocaue Chief of Police Superintendent Jowen dela Cruz when the PNP discovered his alleged involvement in numerous robbery-extortion and carnapping activities.

The entrapment operation which was done inside the Bocaue Police Station was set up after reports reached the Office of PNP Director General Oscar Albayalde about dela Cruz’s allegedly extorted expensive mobile phone from family members of arrested suspects in exchange for the release of their impounded vehicles.

In a statement to SunStar Pampanga, Corpus stressed that he does not ignore any unlawful demeanor perpetrated by PRO-3 personnel and will continue to conduct counter-intelligence operations to ensure the cleanliness of its ranks.

“The series of counter-intelligence operations against our PNP personnel shows efforts of the PNP in removing bad eggs in the police force, and that the rule of law does not distinguish rank, position or popularity whether victim or respondent in the PNP organization,” Corpus said.

“This is a clear manifestation of our keen determination to remove misfits among the ranks of our organization. We ensure that an in-depth investigation will always be conducted to see to it that these PNP personnel who are involved in illegal activities will face the full force of the law,” he added.

Corpus, meanwhile, urged the public to avoid engaging in illicit activities initiated by policemen rather report to the PNP their illegal acts for them to be penalized immediately.

“Time and again, we encourage the public to report any erring PNP personnel to us and we appeal for your support to continue helping us in our fight against lawlessness,” Corpus said.
