Editorial: Celebrating our teachers

EVERY year we celebrate the National Teachers' Month to recognize the efforts made by our teachers to ensure that the young generation is fully equipped and properly educated.

Each of us have fond memories with our teachers from elementary to college -- whether it is an important lesson they gave to us, sharing their meal with us, or simply being there to listen to us.

However, let us not forget that our heroes are not spared from challenges with their profession like mountains of paperworks needed to climb up the ladder, small salary for some, additional tasks not meant for teachers, among others.

Yet, despite all these challenges, we still see many teachers go the extra mile just to give their students the knowledge they need. Some would shell out money from their own pockets to make sure that the learning environment is improved while others gather what they can to help students in need.

Let us not only remember and celebrate the efforts our teachers made this month. Rather, let us do this daily. By the end of the day, they are humans and they get tired, a simple thank you before leaving the classroom can already go a long way in encouraging them.

To all the teachers, educators, or professors out there, thank you. Thank you for caring for our kids at school; thank you for helping those students in need; thank you for loving those who need it; thank you for everything.

We know that things are not easy for you but still you persevered and worked hard to help many students out there.
