THE management of STI-West Negros University (WNU) led by executive vice president Ryan Mark Molina met with the officials of the City Government of Bacolod to discuss preparations for the annual Parade of Lights on December 1 to mark the start of the Christmas season.

During their meeting with Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran, Councilor Em Ang is proposing to institutionalize the event and call it “Festival of Lights.”

She will submit the proposed ordinance to the SP for approval on first reading next Wednesday. The goal is to create another festival that will celebrate our culture, promote tourism, and spur economic activity.

STI-WNU itself is holding its annual Parade of Lights every December since 1993, where students parade around Bacolod displaying the creative lanterns they themselves made.

Now on its 25th year, the STI-WNU Parade of Lights will also feature floats with decorative lights, street-dancing, and drum and lyre teams from different high schools.
