PSPG office to be established in Negros

The Police Security and Protection Group (PSPG) of the Philippine National Police (PNP) in Western Visayas is planning to put up a provincial office in Negros Occidental.

This was confirmed to SunStar Bacolod by Senior Superintendent Rodolfo Castil Jr., director of Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Nocppo), after five members of PSPG-6 visited the province yesterday.

Castil said personnel of PSPG-6 searched for a space for the possible location of the office inside the Nocppo headquarters at Camp Alfredo Montelibano Sr. in Bacolod City.

Castil said the role of PSPG is to provide security to visitors and prominent personalities in the province.

They are needing 70 personnel for the provincial office. The recruitment of policemen is ongoing.

With the proposed establishment of PSPG provincial office, Castil said significant personalities will have security directly under the supervision of the said office.

It will also be easy for politicians to request for security, if necessary but still pending for the final approval of the higher headquarters in Camp Crame, he added.

But security threat will still be assessed, he said. (GYM)
