HAU employees aid families affected by typhoons

THE kindness and generosity of the Holy Angel University (HAU) community was once again witnessed as a call for donation was raised and a relief distribution activity was recently pioneered by the institution in response to the onslaught of Typhoon Karding and Habagat.

The generous amount culled from the donations was converted to packs of relief goods for parishioners of Nuestra Señora del Pilar Parish, particularly the residents of Sta. Cruz in San Simon, Pampanga. Prior to this, volunteers gathered at the university’s Office of the Community Extension Services (OCES) on September 13 and 18, 2018 to assist in the repacking of goods in preparation for the relief distribution.

The distribution was held on September 19, 2018 with the participation of around 28 non-teaching personnel and faculty representatives. The volunteers who were set to distribute the goods in Sta. Cruz were instead instructed to turn over the items to the Chapel Pastoral Council (CPC) President of Sta. Cruz, the Parish Secretary, and some parish workers because the area was still submerged under four to five feet of flood water. The goods will later be distributed by the CPC volunteers of Sta. Cruz once the area is accessible and the water subsides to a safe level.

The relief operation was made possible in partnership with the Social Action Center of Pampanga and Rev. Fr. Homer Policarpio, Parish Priest of Nuestra Señora del Pilar Parish. (PR)
