Fil-Sino beats Pag-Ibig

FIL-SINO Selection beat Pag-Ibig Fund 120-107 and Bapro held off D’Twins/RCA 88-80, in Class B action of the 10th Tan Kek Pin Memorial Basketball Cup at TTHS Po Hang Gym.

John Montemayor with 38 points, meanwhile, led Johann Kendrick Tan to a victory over My Spaghetti House 86-73 in Class C action at the Nompac Gym.

Bapro and Fil-Sino Selection led its respective bracket at 3-0, while Johann Kendrick Tan also remained unscathed with 3 wins in Class C. 

Pag-ibig Fund took the 1st quarter behind Angelito Dumdum 13 points going 3 of 3 from the rainbow area and Orlando Lamis Jr. adding eight points Rey Pandoro delivered 11 points for Fil-Sino. Free shooting woes hounded Fil-Sino with RB Chua missing all his 6 attempts with 5 points.

In the 2nd quarter, Pag-Ibig Fund remained boiling from the outside as Donnel Asan hitting 4 triples with 16 points, but Pag-Ibig Fund could not contain the trio of Stanley Bontignao Doods Gonzales, and Matthew Yap with 12-11 and 6 points, respectively, as Fil-Sino overtook Pag-Ibig Fund at half time 60-59.

Fil-Sino offense went into high gear in the 3rd canto as Mark Sabusap was unstoppable in the post with 15 points while Mark Binguan converted 13 points on his outside shots as Fil-Sino extended the lead to 94-77. Jeff Maningo was the lone bright spot for Pag-Ibig with 9 points. 

In the 4th quarter, Binguan and Arvin Gustilo combined for 14 points to produce its biggest lead at 26 points, but a fiery windup behind Maningo, Bryan Alunan and Asan cut the lead to half for the final tally.

Binguan paced five other players in double figures with 21 points Sabusap chipped in 19 points while Stanley Bontigao, Pandoro and Gonzlez had 15, 11 and 10 points, respectively. RB Chua had 9 points, Christopher Javelosa and Gustilo with 8 points apiece.

Pag-ibig Fund got contributions from Asan 23, Maningo 17, Lamis 15, Dumdum 14, Alunan 13, Tibo Hisona and Harry Siendo with 8 points each.

Richard Occida 13 points powered D’Twins/RCA to a 23-18 1st quarter lead even as Andrew Deles had 10 points for Bapro.

Bapro leaned on the 2nd quarter balance offense led by Francis Andren with 3 triples, Matt Deles with 7 points and Yan Yan Dy 6 to capture the lead at halftime 42-34.

The duo of Rainier Chico and Raffy Torrico had 13 and 12 respectively in the 3rd quarter but it hardly made a dent on the lead of Bapro 68-61 as Katsi Cadagat delivered 13 points and BonBon Posecion had 7 points for Bapro.

Katsi Cadagat led Bapro with 17 points backstopped by Andrew Deles, Matt Deles and Posecion with 15, 13 and 9 points, respectively.

Richard Occida had a game-high 18 points for D’Twins/RCA, Torrico added 17 points and Chico with 15 points.

John Montemayor 19 points led JKT to a 23-221st quarter advantage even as Bol Manaloto had 7 points for Spaghetti.

JKT extended the lead to 51-36 behind the exploits of Kib Montalbo and Brian Tan with 12 and 8 points, respectively. It was Spaghetti’s turn to make a run in the 3rd quarter as they cut the lead to 61-57 with a balance offense led by Jaime Luis Sy with 7 points.

But John Montemayor continued to remain hot as he added 17 more points as JKT established several double digit lead in the final canto. 

John Montemayor scattered 38 points Brian Tan and Kirrel Brahndon Montalbo had 12 points apiece, Victor Go Jr. 8, John Dustin Chua 5, Judge Paolo Ariola 4.

Bol Manaloto led Spaghetti with 18 points, Richard Co contributed 13, Jaime Luis Sy 7, Denson Lim 6, Joshua Co 4.
