Baguio archers shine in PH Archery Cup

ARCHERS form the Summer Capital continue to make their mark in national competitions hitting three gold medals including two silvers and three bronzes at the close of the 2019 SEAG Qualifier I and 2018 Philippine Archery Cup Finals held September 21 to 23.

Palarong Pambansa multi–medalists Charmaine Angela Villamor and Loren Chloe Balaoing, both representing University of Baguio Archery Club, led charge for the highland city’s quest as it snagged the gold and silver medal in the junior recurve girls category.

During the Palarong Pambansa in 2017, Villamor scooped the gold medals in the 40, 50, 60 meters and the single FITA round where she was named the region’s top medal performer while Balaoing won five golds during the 2015 edition.

Up and coming archer Darick Faroden representing Baguio City Archery Club also took home a gold medal in the yeoman recurve boys category.

Baguio archers also dominated the field in the bowman recurve boys winning the gold, silver, and bronze courtesy of Jemuelle James Espiritu (Pines City Archery Club – gold), Alon Yuan Versoza Jucutan (Pines City Archery Club – silver), and Roshan Darrien Ronquillo (Baguio City Archery Club – bronze).

Jeria Aurienna Katrina of the Baguio City Archery Club meanwhile took home the silver in the bowman recurve girls category as Damariz Gabrielle Calera of Pines City Archery Club won the bronze.

During the recent Batang Pinoy national championships held in the city, Baguio also scooped two gold medals in archery. (Roderick Osis)
