Ex-police director is Medalya ng Katangi-tanging awardee

FORMER police provincial director Senior Superintendent Charles Calima Jr. was given the Medalya ng Katangi-tanging Award by President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo during the Philippine National Police (PNP) Day at Camp Crame.

The awarding was assisted by Interior and Local Government Secretary Ronaldo Puno, and PNP chief General Jesus A. Versosa.

The award given to Calima, who now heads the PNP Training Center at Camp Crame, was for his quest for excellence.

Calima was instrumental in the application of the PNP Training Service in the police ranks.

With his proficient leadership and commitment and sworn duties, he competently steered the PNP towards the enhancement of human resource through continuing education of its personnel through the conduct of a Course Director's Training, On-line Courses and Instructors Development Course in support to the Integrated Transformation Program.

He likewise pursued the PNP personnel achieve appropriate training facilities and advance education that could enhance the PNP's capability in the delivery of the best public safety services and ably respond to the growing challenges of law enforcement and peacekeeping.

The award was also given to him for his outstanding achievement as prime mover in transforming and strengthening the PNP Training Service into a world-class police training institute.
