Forest fire hits Baviera village in Sagay

A FOREST fire hit the mountainous part of Purok Sherman Hill at Barangay Baviera in Sagay City, Negros Occidental Thursday morning, September 27.

Fire Officer 1 (FO1) April Shayne Ausan, arson investigator of Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) in Sagay City, said they received the fire call from the police at 8 a.m.

However, they were not able to reach the site because they received an advice from the Philippine Army that it is a critical area.

"We do not know if the fire was intentionally done or not because the area is infested and dangerous," Ausan said.

The military troops instead informed them that the fire was far from residential villages.

The fire lasted for about four hours.

Ausan said they were not able to determine the cause of the fire and the extent of the damage.

Last month, forest fire also hit Northern Negros Forest Reserve at Sitio Nakar in Barangay Magsaysay, Cadiz City.
