Inmates to benefit from film director's work

AN INDEPENDENT film director wanted Davao City jail inmates to benefit from his film “Dante, The Musicale”.

During the City Council session Tuesday, September 25, 2018, director and writer Patrick Seras presented the indie film "Dante, The Musicale” and his plan to extend its cause to the jail inmates in the city.

Seras said that the film already helped the Cagayan de Oro jail inmates start a livelihood project.

“Ang Dante: The Musicale, actually, nag-start na sa Cagayan de Oro City, since ang atong mga artista from the jail there so we launched it sa Cagayan last year October (Dante: The Musicale actually started and was launched in Cagayan de Oro since the artists are from there),” Seras said.

He hoped to show the film in schools and in barangays in Davao City.

Seras said that the fee during film showing will depend on the school or the barangay and the fund will go directly to the project for inmates in the city.

The film, shot inside a jail, tells the story of a drug user’s difficult life and struggle inside the prison. It runs for an hour and a half.
