OUTSTANDING Cebuano footballers who were once or currently a part of the Aboitiz Football Cup will be awarded today in the formal opening of the 20th edition of the biggest football tournament in Cebu at the Terraces of the Ayala Center Cebu.

“We are honored and grateful that the fruits of a united Cebu Football moving in one direction are now being reaped. The Aboitiz Football Cup has been the premier event of this program; where all of Cebu’s best talents have played and honed their craft,” said Cebu Football Association vice-president Rico Navarro.

Navarro, along with Assistant vice-president for Commercial Business Unit-AboitizLand Eduardo Aboitiz, CFA president Ricky Dakay and Farrah Mayol, will be giving out the awards in the Awarding of the Outstanding Aboitiz Football Cup Alumni.

The awardees are current or former players of the Aboitiz Cup who stood out nationally.

The teams that will be awarded are the University of Southern Philippines Foundation Girls Futsal team that competed in the first Allianz Futsal Cup; the Central Visayas Regional Athletic Association (Cviraa) girls futsal team that played in the 2018 Palarong Pambansa; the University of San Carlos team that competed in the 2018 National Private Schools Athletic Association; and the Don Bosco Technology Center (DBTC) U-13 Boys and Mandaue City U-13 Girls Futsal teams that played in the 2018 Batang Pinoy.

The individual footballers who stood out are current and former national team players Leo Maquiling, Christian Lumapas, Pietre Dakay, Erich Raphael Orale, Rizamae Ugbaniel, Trizza Mae Musni, Yves Caballero, Keen Agot, Valentin Calvo, Ezra Decene, Enzo Ceniza, Itsuko Bacatan, Gaudencio Gaudel, Pericles Dakay Jr., Jan Reese Jumawan, Rafael Lipardo and Arantxa Trebol.

Ethan Roxas and Joseph Kyne Garces are also given awards for being picked in the FC Barcelona Camp last year.

“We are so grateful for the all-out support of the Aboitizes. Without them, Cebu Football wouldn’t have been able to achieve what it has reached today. With Aboitiz Cup Luzon starting this year, we can expect a bigger reach beyond Cebu in the future,” said Navarro. EKA
