Hermosa festival activities reel off

THE stretch of R.T. Lim commonly known as the “Cawa-Cawa Boulevard” came alive on Saturday night, September 29, as it hosted two open-air activities for the next two weeks in line with the Zamboanga Hermosa Festival.

Zamboanga City Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar said the Smoke Out Grilled Food Fiesta and the Grand Midnight Sale officially opened its doors to the public starting at 6 p.m., with a simple opening program and ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Salazar said that a total of 80 stalls are participating in the Grilled Food Fiesta, 40 in the Grand Midnight Sale while 24 out of town traders will showcase their goods in the Travelling Merchants’ bazaar.

The chief executive said the two activities will run for two weeks, from September 29 to October 13.

She said the participating food stalls and merchants will be open from 5 p.m. to 12 midnight, and residents will be treated to nightly performances from local bands and singers.

Meanwhile, Salazar has issued Executive Order BC 412-2018 re-routing the flow of traffic in line with the conduct of the activities along R.T. Lim Boulevard.

The E.O directs the temporary no entry or closure of the R.T. Lim Boulevard (Southside lane) from the Sangguniang Panlungsod to junction of Alejo Alvarez Street from 5 p.m. to 12 midnight from September 29 to October 13.

The Northside of the boulevard is declared one-way streets from west coast to city proper. (Bong Garcia/SunStar Philippines)
