AROUND 100 houses were ordered to be transferred away from the quarry site of QM Builders in Sitio Tiguib, Barangay Lagtang, Talisay City.
Talisay City officials agreed on the transfer last Friday after a meeting in the Office of Mayor Eduardo Gullas that included residents of the area, represented by leader Nora Abatayo. Also in the meeting were City Administrator Rudelyn Navarro, City Legal Officer Giovanni Sususco, City Engineer Gamliel Vicente Jr., City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office Chief Alvin Santillana and QM Builders supervisor Willy Abatayo.
Navarro told reporters that she saw the area and found it dangerous as a large part of the mountain had been quarried off.
This prompted Gullas to issue a cease and desist order against QM Builders.
During the meeting, it was agreed that the residents would be temporarily transferred to the Barangay Lagtang basketball court while QM Builders prepared a relocation site for them.
Abatayo said the relocation site is in Barangay Jaclupan.
Aside from this, Jaclupan will also give five kilos of rice, canned goods and construction materials. QM Builders will also provide the vehicle for the transfer of the residents. GPL
