2 killed, 1 injured in Puerto hacking attack

AUTHORITIES are facing a blank wall on the identities of the suspects and the motive on the pre-dawn fatal hacking attack that killed two construction workers and seriously wounded their companion in Upper Puerto, Cagayan de Oro City, on Monday, October 1.

Police said the unidentified suspects hacked to death 37 year old Eliseo Balatero Jr. and Arnold Buray, 40, while wounding Rodel Lebria, 30. Victims are neighbors in Mantibugao, Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon.

Initial investigation disclosed that the victims were riding two motorcycles on their way home when the perpetrators attacked them using an undetermined bladed weapon.

Chief Inspector Evan Vinas, Police Station 6 commander, said the victims sustained multiple hacked wounds on their faces and head. The wounded victim survived and was rushed to the hospital.

"Posible sundang ang gamit sa mga suspek kay dagko man og abhak sa samad," Vinas said.

Vinas said the victims were having a drinking spree in barangay Puerto and the suspects may have been tailing them or waited for them at the crime scene.

Investigators are looking into whether the victims had a confrontation while drinking at a bar.

"Ang atong duda basin sa imnanan nagsumikad basin naay confrontation nahitabo unya giatangan or gisudan sila pauli ,"Vinas said.

Police said the statement of the survivor will help solve the case swiftly.

"Atong gihulatan ang statement sa survivor aron mahibal-an nato unsa gyud nahitabo," he added.
