NegOcc to present in PH biz confab

THE opportunity given to Negros Occidental to present its potentials during the Philippine Business Conference on November is seen to spur investments in the province, especially among its rural areas.

Frank Carbon, chief executive officer of Metro Bacolod Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MBCCI), said the province was invited by the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) to showcase its investment potentials during the national conference at Manila Hotel on October 17 to 19.

Carbon said former governor Rafael Coscolluela, provincial consultant on investment promotions, export, and trade development, will talk on the importance of government and business to work together for growth and development.

"The former governor's presentation will underscore the role of collaboration between the public and private sector on building capacities and finding solutions," he added.

Provincial Supervising Tourism Operations Officer Cristine Mansinares might also be presenting investment opportunities in the province's tourism industry.

Carbon said Mansinares' presentation will showcase major developments in tourism like more hotel rooms, farm tourism potentials, and development of Sipaway Island in San Carlos City and Suyac Mangrove Forest in Sagay City.

The business leader said that through the business conference, they are expecting more investments in the agricultural areas in the province.

"These investments will allow conversion of rural areas to being a development prone areas instead of resistant ones," he added.

On September 26, the province was able to showcase its potentials by hosting the Business Forum at Dusit Thani Hotel Manila in Makati City.

After the said forum, the province plans to create a market-driven investment roadmap.

"We will use the inputs from the forum as a basis in coming up with our investment roadmap that will include programs making province as investment ready," Executive Assistant to the Governor Joy Ogan earlier said, adding that "this will help us engage better with investors."
