6th inter-school bowling tourney held

NEGROS Occidental High School (NOHS)-KMH, Colegio de San Agustin-B Unified and Bacolod Tay Tung High School reigned supreme in their respective division of the just-concluded Sixth Inter-school Friendship Bowling Tournament for Unity at the Negros Super Lanes in Bacolod City.

The twice-to-beat NOHS–KMH Team of Robbie Elegado composed of Toto Flores, Michael Corral, Essho Garcia, Raymund Galvan, Maribel Morales, Pritz Posadas, Katoy Deocadiz, Joemarie Sevilla and Cheryl Bacay downplayed the West Negros University Bulldozers in the second game, 511-474, to grab the premiere division championship trophy.

WNU downed the champion team in their first game encounter, 558-507 for the deciding contest.

Carrying the colors for WNU were Arlou Dionio, Rodney Bojos, Marlon Faisan, Lyndon Reyes, Tess Robles, Carlo Boyero, Ann Dayot, Glori Libo-on, and Noel Gumban.

Corral top-scored for KMH with 130 points, while Reyes posted 103 for the losing squad.

Seeded No.2 after the elimination phase, WNU earned the trip to the finals by dragging NOHS Pin busters-Davies in the semis, 542-480.

BCHS Lucky Strikes anchored by Johann Genolos placed third runner-up after absorbing defeat in the hands of Iran Pielago-led Davies, 496-542, in the quarterfinals.

In Bracket B, the Colegio de San Agustin-Bacolod United pin crushers who carried the twice-to-beat opportunity for topping the first round tracked down Domingo Lacson National High School Bounty Hunters in the final showdown, 522-494, for the tournament’s crown.

DLNHS dumped CSA-B in the first game, 535-463 to arrange for a rubber match.

Playing for the Category B champion were Cecil Ramon Silverio, Precy Pillo, Raymund Gargar, Eduardo Belleza, Wilfredo Arante, Wing Casama, Paul Necesario, and Dorina Casiano, while Rowena Juarez, Joe Banquiran, Rey Gargar, Ritchelle, and Melchor Semillano.

Pillo starred for the winning team with 113 markers, while Banquiran hauled a similar 113 for DLNHS losing cause.

BCHS Mustangs piloted by Oscar Clenen and NOHS Incredibowls led by James Henry Toga settled for second and third runners-up, respectively.

Bacolod Tay Tung High School reigned supreme in bracket C with a 540-475 dragging of NOHS Color Ideas in the battle for the title.

Color Ideas piloted by Eric Aguero took the right to challenge the top seed by ripping St. Joseph-La Salle Shieldz in the semis, 484-468.

The members of BTTHS champion were Bobby Yap, Abe Leong, Kareen Khubchand, Leonard Que, Jonathan Chua and George Gochico Jr., while Kennedy Eusebio, Joe Jopillo, Lea Uy, Mark Andren, Eric Aguero and Erwin Aguero.

Yap and Leong played the heroic role for BTHHS with 129 and 119 points apiece.

NOHS Cat Strikers was third runner-up.

Consolation prize champion for the non-winning entries were NOHS Colony (Bracket A), NOHS Grupo ’83 (Bracket B), and BCHS The Rocks (Bracket C).

Tay Tung bet Abe Leong and Sylvia “Darna” Del Rosario won the master bowler title in the battle of the tournament’s top 10 players.
