POI on Puerto hacking to face murder raps

POLICE authorities are set to press multiple murder and frustrated murder charges against a person of interest who may have a hand in the killing of two construction workers and wounded another in the deadly hacking attack in Upper Puerto, Cagayan de Oro City, on Monday, October 1.

Chief Inspector Evan Vinas, police station 6 commander, said they already identified a person of interest who allegedly ordered the brutal killing.

Investigators are also following the perpetrators who carry out the order.

"Dili lang sa nato ibutyag ang pangalan sa atong person of interest. Pagmahuman ang preparation sa mga documents ato nang i-file ang kaso (We won't disclose yet the name of our person of interest. We will file the case after the preparation of the documents)," Vinas said.

Vinas said the investigation is zeroed in on the angle of intense personal grudge against one of the victims identified as Arnold Buray.

Buray and Eliseo Balatero Jr. were both killed after sustaining hacked wounds on their faces and head. Their companion Rodel Lebria survived the attack.

Vinas said Buray had an unresolved issue related to properties which could have been the motive of the killing.

He said Buray was possibly the target and the two were embroiled during the attack.

"Naay intense nga dumot batok aning kang Buray kay dunay property nga wala gihatag (There's an intense grudge against Buray related to properties)," Vinas said.

Vinas said the families of the victims have been cooperating in the probe to swiftly solve the case.
