CASH donations for landslide victims in the City of Naga reached P10.7 million yesterday.
Survivors continue to get help 12 days since more than two hectares of Sitio Tagaytay in Barangay Tina-an collapsed and created a landslide that covered several houses in the neighboring sitio of Sindulan.
Officials of the Carcar City Government led by Mayor Nicepuro Apura visited the City of Naga in the afternoon to turn over P1 million.
Aside from Apura, members of the Carcar City Council were also present.
A few days ago, the Talisay City Government gave P1 million, while Lapu-Lapu City gave P2 million.
The municipalities of Moalboal, Dalaguete, Cordova, Santander, Badian, Balamban, Carmen and Argao also donated P100,000 each to the City Government. Samboan donated P300,000.
Aside from cash donations, concerned groups also provided relief assistance to landslide survivors.
Yesterday, the Ayala Business Club donated 500 Jerry cans and assorted relief goods.
Monitoring help
Meanwhile, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) 7 started encoding the Disaster Assistance Family Access Card (DAFAC) entries of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) who have been affected by the landslide.
DAFAC plays an important role in monitoring the provision of assistance to the IDPs.
According to the DSWD website, “It contains basic information on each displaced family, including where they are currently staying at; whether in the evacuation center or at their or relatives’ or friends’ houses. It also helps keep track of the services extended to the families from the start of the crisis to the Early Recovery Phase.”
“Effective data management is important in the delivery of services to the IDPs. Hence, we need to fast-track the encoding of the information gathered through the DAFAC,” said DSWD 7 Director Ma. Evelyn Macapobre.
As of DSWD 7’s data last Monday, the Sept. 20 landslide displaced 1,714 families, or 6,913 individuals. They are currently staying in 11 evacuation centers scattered around the city.
The DSWD 7 has also distributed P1.7 million worth of family food packs, P3.2 million worth of hygiene kits and P275,000 in cash assistance to families of the victims. (JKV, HBL)
