FORMER Army officer Jovito Palparan is now detained at the New Bilibid Prison (NBP), said Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra.
In a text message, Guevarra said Palparan was turned over to the NBP at about 7:45 p.m. on Wednesday, October 3.
This development came after the Malolos Regional Trial Court Branch 15 denied Palparan's motion to hold the implementation of the commitment order against him.
On September 17, the Malolos RTC Branch 15 found Palparan guilty of two counts of kidnapping and serious illegal detention over the disappearance of University of the Philippines students Sherlyn Cadapan and Karen Empeño in 2006.
The former major general is also facing a separate kidnapping case in Malolos RTC Branch 19 for the kidnapping of Raymond and Reynaldo Manalo. (Keith A. Calayag/SunStar Philippines)
