Loman to defend title in Bahrain

REIGNING bantamweight king Stephen Loman is set on for another challenge as he defends his crown in Brave Combat Federation (CF) next month.

The world champion of the famed Team Lakay will defend the championship against Brazil’s Felipe Efrain on November 16 at the Khalifa Sports City in Isa, Bahrain which is seen to headline Brave 18.

Loman (10-2) is the youngest champion in the organization after winning the title against Gurdarshan Mangat via a first round technical knock - out in 2017.

The former University of the Cordilleras student successfully defended the bantamweight belt earlier this year with a unanimous decision against Frans Mlambo.

A veteran of 16 fights with 13 victories including eight knock outs, Efrain earned a title shot after scoring a knock - out against Arnold Quero in the main card of Brave 14 in Morocco in August after his first round knock - out loss to Mlambo in March.

Efrain will become the first Brazilian to contest for the bantamweight championship in Brave.

Meanwhile, Team Lakay’s Jeremy Pacatiw hopes to sustain his winning ways as he sees action on October 27 in Lahore Pakistan against Uloomi Karim from Team Fight Fortress.

The event marks the first mixed martial arts event hosted in Pakistan and Pacatiw will be the first fighter from Philippines to compete in Pakistan.

After back to back losses in November 2017 and in May this year, Pacatiw finally got his groove back securing a spilt decision victory against Keith Lee in August.

With seven appearances out of the 17 editions of Brave, Pacatiw is one of the fighters with most appearances in the promotions.

Uloomi has a professional record of 7-4-0 and had competed in World Series of Fighting. The main event will feature a welterweight bout between Rodrigo Cavalheiro from Brazil and Abdoul Abdouraguimov from France.

Brave earlier confirmed there will be more athletes from Philippines in the fight card and the growing popularity of the promotion in Philippines will prompt the organization to focus talent scouting in the country. (Roderick Osis)
