Capitol looks for slain woman’s kin

THE Cebu Provincial Government will initiate moves to hasten the repatriation of a Cebuana who was killed by her husband in Sweden.

Vice Gov. Agnes Magpale asked Capitol’s gender and development (GAD) officer, Heddah Largo, to get in touch with the family of victim Mailyn “Mai-Mai” Sinambon-Aalam, who hailed from Medellin town in northern Cebu.

Mai-Mai’s husband, Steve Aaron Blak Aalam, admitted killing his wife inside their house in Stockholm, Sweden in the evening of Sept. 23.

A friend of the victim, Maria Fe Buhayan, said she didn’t expect Mai-Mai to be killed by her husband.

Buhayan was the maid of honor in Mai-Mai and Aalam’s wedding in 2009 in Barangay Kawit, Medellin.

Mai-Mai and Aalam first met at a mall in Cebu City in 2007.

Buhayan said Aalam loved Mai-Mai, although the couple had their own share of fights.

But years into their marriage, Mai-Mai shared with Buhayan how Aalam had changed, becoming aggressive and violent.

Mai-Mai’s mother, Maria Sinambong-Monado, has sought help from Bayan and Migrante Central Visayas in seeking justice for her daughter. (AZLG)
