THE increase of the business establishments in Davao City can be attributed with the growing tourism activity in the city, a business leader said.
“There is so much attraction in Davao city right now hence the reason of the increasing new business establishments and tourist arrivals in Davao City,” Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry Incorporated (DCCII) president Arturo Milan said through a phone message.
Davao City mayor Sara Duterte Carpio said during her State of the City Address (SOCA) on Tuesday, October 2, that the city recorded a total of 43,010 business establishments for this year with a total estimated investment value of more than P270 billion.
This is way higher than the recorded business establishments in 2016 which reached up to 39,238 establishments with a total estimated value of P230.83 billion.
Milan added that all these investments are effects of the tourist arrivals in the city given with the expected events in the city like Kadayawan Festival and the like.
Duterte-Carpio in her Soca also credited the influx of tourists with the city hosting big events like the Davao Regional Athletic Association (DAVRAA) last February 2018 which brought around 6,000 delegates, and Alveo Ironman Triathlon which brought around 2,000 participants.
Davao City Tourism Operation Office head Generose Tecson said through a phone message that the private sector contributes a huge impact in maintaining the business activities and progress in the city alongside with the city’s efforts.
