EVEN President Rodrigo Duterte has joined the lotto craze.

Special Assistant to the President Christopher Lawrence "Bong" Go said the President gave instructions to have his bet placed for the Ultra Lotto 6/58 game, the jackpot of which has gone up to nearly P850 million.

"Mamaya nagpapataya na naman siya ng bago (Duterte asked me to place his new bet later)," Go said in a radio interview Thursday, October 4.

This was not the first time that Duterte instructed his closest aide to place a bet on lotto.

Go said Duterte also tried his luck last week and gave 18 combinations.

"Eighteen po 'yung combinations na pinataya niya sa akin last week. Hindi nanalo (He gave 18 combinations. He asked me to place his bet on the lottery last week. But he did not win)," he said.

Asked what Duterte will do with the money if the President wins, Go said: "Wala naman siyang sinabi kung ano gagawin niya. Pero malay mo sabi niya pag swertehin tayo (He has not said anything on what he will do with it. But he was hopeful that maybe, we'll get lucky.)"

Duterte's daughter, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio, also placed her bet in one of the lottery outlets in Davao City, hoping that she would also win the jackpot. (Ruth Abbey Gita/SunStar Philippines)
