Sungduan: Meet and greet

THEY may be busy as bees but members and officers of Bibak Kuala Lumpur (KL) in Malaysia still find time to gather together and take an active role in preserving and promoting the rich Cordilleran culture.

The group lead by their president Celestina Balan Olaget continues to practice the indigenous tradition of singing and dancing with the gangsa during special occasions such as their organization’s anniversary and events like the conduct of Miss Bibak KL beauty pageant.

Expressing their pride to their cultural heritage is also evident with the way they practice the elements of culture even in simple gatherings at the park where they also use their tribal language and promote unity.

Bibak KL secretary Andrea Ngaseo said observing the traditional activities with fellow kailyans is their way of strengthening their bond as a group and of course overcoming homesickness.

Their group is also committed in giving moral and emotional support to internet sensation Jeyrick Sigmaton known as Carrot Man whom they also promote worldwide through the use of social media.

A meet and greet with their favorite idol recently in KL created a moment of joy and fulfillment to the members who even toured him at the prime destinations of the Capital of Malaysia. They hope to see Carrot man in a performance on stage after the cancelled concert of the latter.

Cordillerans abroad have been playing a very active role in promoting the rich cultural heritage of the Cordilleras. May they continue to embrace tradition.
