Man who struck traffic aide to face direct assault charges

THE man who punched an officer of the Davao City Transport and Traffic Management Office (CTTMO) officer last Wednesday, October 3, 2018, will face direct assault charges.

“Mag-file ta ug direct assault (We will file a direct assault charges),” CTTMO head Dionisio Abude said in a phone interview with SunStar Davao Thursday, October 4.

He reminded the public to submit to traffic authorities to avoid problems.

“Para malikayan nato ang inani na situation, kung nay enforcer unya maayo ang approach, unya naka-uniform, mu-submit ta sa enforcer (For us to avoid these kinds of situations, we should submit to our traffic enforcers, especially if he is in uniform and he asks politely),” Abude said.

CTTMO officer Dexter Roa, 32, of Mintal District was keen on filing charges against Crissamor Saya, 39, of General Santos City.

A video taken by Mara Duay, which went viral and drew numerous comments from the netizens, showed Saya shouting and punching the CTTMO officer while parking in a “No Parking, No Waiting” area.

“Gibadlong na daan ang driver na naka-cause siya ug traffic, but pila ka minuto kay wala man gihapon nihawa mao to nga gipangita na ang driver’s license aron ma-isyuhan na ug citation ticket, kay wa man sya patuo (The driver was reprimanded by the CTTMO officer as he was causing traffic in the area, but he didn’t listen so the CTTMO officer who asked for his license for the issuance of the citation ticket),” Abude said, adding that they later found out that the driver cannot give his license because Saya has it in her bag.

“Dili man kuhaon ang driver’s license, tan-awon lang man kay para masulat nag ngalan sa citation ticket (The CTTMO officer was only asking for the license to get the name of the violator for the citation ticket),” Abude said. The CTTMO officer also wanted to check the license’s expiration date.
