FORMER Senator Lito Lapid will run for senator in 2019.

A week before the start of the filing of certificates of candidacy, Lapid and his son, former Pampanga Governor Mark Lapid, were sworn in as new members of the Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC).

Senate President Vicente Sotto III led the Lapids' oath taking at the NPC Clubhouse in Quezon City.

Sotto, senior party adviser, shared with the media some photos of the father and son’s oath taking.

Sotto confirmed Lito Lapid’s senatorial bid and Mark Lapid's mayoralty plan.

Sotto said Senator JV Ejercito will also take his oath as a new NPC member next week.

Ejercito, in a text message to reporters, confirmed that he would join the NPC.
