Mayor activates price coordinating council

ILOILO City Mayor Jose Espinosa III has reactivated the Local Price Coordinating Council (LPCC) and as per monitoring, the price of the products in the market is currently “stabilized.”

LPCC is tasked to properly monitor the surge of price in the market and also, to address the surrounding trade sectors.

At present, Espinosa said the price in the market is now alleviated according to LPCC.

“There were bulletin boards in the market to monitor the prevailing price,” Espinosa said.

The chief executive said that he will activate the price control “mechanism” if the price will increase again.

Based on the Price Act of 1992, the reorganization of the LPCC is a requirement after a newly assigned officials are elected. The local chief executive will be the head of council while Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) as the secretariat and vice chairman.

The council comprises of representatives from the National Economic and Development Authority, Department of Agriculture, Health, Environment and Natural Resources, Transportation and Communication and Justice, Science and Technology, Philippine Statistics Authority including the private sectors and consumers’ group.
