IT MAY seem unfair that I haven’t realized what beauty God has created Mindanao not until I became 23. It was really curiosity that pushed me to go out and try mountain trekking. It’s the trend and a lot of people are giving interest on it and I’m one of them. The first trekking experience I had was at Mt. Capistrano located at Malaybalay, Bukidnon. Looking over the top towards the distant city was a great experience.
It wasn’t just about catching up with the trend but it was more on the magnificence of the mountain I was really in awe with. As I kept opening doors to discover of what Mindanao has to offer, it gave me freedom to feel what it’s like to be a Dabawenya. Here’s an adventure I had with my friends when we went to Kwagsik Falls located at Marilog, Davao City.
It took us almost 2 and a half hoursa to reach the falls but the view is really remarkable. The experience of getting filthy from the mud didn’t matter. That moment you see the warm green surrounding and the hummingbirds is really worth reminiscing. Though the trail was not easy as the downhill trails were slippery, it was all worth it. A good company of sincere, true friends makes the adventure even more special. Sunrise or rainfall we all had it in one day and we all agree that it was one of the best experiences we had together so far.
For this trip we only asked assistance from one of the locals to guide our way to the falls. It is still best to visit the local government unit for safety purposes.
