DSWD extends assistance to landslide survivors

THE Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) 7 has started encoding the entries in the Disaster Assistance Family Access Card (Dafac) of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in the City of Naga, Cebu.

The Dafac plays an important role in monitoring the provision of assistance to the IDPs. It contains basic information on each displaced family, including where they are currently staying: whether in the evacuation center or at their or relatives’ houses. It also helps keep track of the services extended to the families from the start of the disaster to the Early Recovery Phase.

“Effective data management is important in the delivery of services to the IDPs. Hence, we need to fast-track the encoding of the information gathered through the Dafac,” said DSWD 7 Ma. Evelyn Macapobre.

Macapobre said the encoded entries will be reviewed to come up with a clean master list of all IDPs, which will be the basis for providing further interventions to the IDPs.

The Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program, Listahanan staff and some volunteers worked together in encoding the Dafac entries.

DSWD 7 provided P5,237,204.28 for the IDPs. These include P1,736,640 for the family food packs, P3,225,564.28 for the non-food items like hygiene kits and P275,000 cash assistance to the bereaved families.
