City-backed invitational league kicks off Oct. 16

HOME and away games will be played when the Sports Development Division-City Mayors Office (SDD-CMO) holds the Davao City Security and Safety Invitational Basketball League 2018.

The tournament will open on October 16, according to SDD-CMO chief Mikey Aportadera who guested during Thursday's Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) Forum at The Annex of SM City Davao.

He said the tournament will be participated by the Davao City Police Office (DCPO), Davao City Transport and Traffic Management Office (CTTMO), Task Force Davao (TFD), Coast Guard Station Davao (CGSD), Philippine National Police Highway Patrol Group Davao (PNPHPGD) and Public Safety Command Center (PSCC).

"Daghang big events muabutay Davao City next year apil ang (There will be huge events in Davao City next year including the) Davao Region Athletic Association (Davraa), Alveo Ironman 70.3 Davao, National Prisaa og Palarong Pambansa, among others. Before we embark on these big events, this hardworking people who keeps us feel safe 24/7 deserves a program that would help them release their pressure and stress," Aportadera said.

The SDD-CMO chief also said that cash prizes are at stake that will be converted for needs in winning teams' respective offices.

"Ang kalahati sa cash prize kay ipakaon namo sa mga tao sa ilahang posts tapos ang half kay i-convert namo para pang paayo nila sa ilahang offices or palit nila ug dungag equipment (Half of the cash prize will be spent to treat their officemates then the rest will be the for office equipment or materials)," he said.

Games will be played every Tuesdays and Thursdays.
